  • What is the Difference Between Rubies and Sapphires?

Sapphires are known to be blue but come in a variety of different colors like yellow, green, pink, and more, with the exception of red. Some sapphires can create a starburst effect, also known as asterism, when you look closely. The color red missing from the sapphire color spectrum is actually reserved for the ruby gemstone. Rubies get their red color from chromium and it can cause fluorescence, which causes them to appear to glow like a fire from the inside out.
