Lab-Grown Diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds, they’re just formed differently.

At Shane Co., we work with trusted partners and hand-select every stone, so you’re choosing from only the most beautiful within each grade.

Expert guidance from Your Friend & Jeweler: We’ve been experts in diamonds for nearly 100 years and counting. We source directly from trusted industry leaders we've partnered with for generations. Every diamond is hand-selected no matter the cut, carat, or grade, so your engagement ring is always the most beautiful.

1. Are lab-grown diamonds real?

Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds.

They are not moissanite or cubic zirconia, which are imitation diamonds. They share the same carbon structure as natural diamonds, giving them the same hardness, brilliance, and fire. To the naked eye, they look identical.

At Shane Co., we carefully select lab-grown diamonds within each grade to ensure exceptional quality and beauty in every stone.

2. How are lab-grown diamonds made?

Lab-grown diamonds are created by replicating the intense heat and pressure found deep within the Earth. What takes billions of years in nature is thoughtfully recreated through science, resulting in a lab-grown diamond that looks and performs just like a natural diamond.

Each one is then expertly cut to bring out its full light and life.

Growth of a Lab-Grown Diamond

Lab-grown diamonds are created using CVD and HPHT processes (most of ours grown using advanced CVD technology). From there, our partners select the finest stones, and we select only those that meet our standards across size, shape, and within each grade. Learn more about CVD and HPHT in the FAQs.

3. Are lab-grown diamonds ethical?

Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments with a clear, traceable origin, making them a strong option for those who value transparency.

At Shane Co., our long-term partners prioritize responsible practices and innovation. Our partner labs are carbon-neutral or carbon-negative and reinvest in clean energy and sustainability.
