We were reminiscing just the other day, and it’s no secret that Taylor Swift has become a beloved pop icon with the success to prove it. With 12 Grammy awards won, a tour projected to bring in $2.2 billion, and endless records smashed, it’s safe to say her reputation has never been, well, better!

Thanks to her iconic worldwide Eras Tour and her decision to re-record her first six albums, her complete discography has been brought back to daylight for the wider population. Across her 237 songs and 10 studio albums, Swift has music for every phase, or “era,” of your life. So much so, that fans across the internet have started claiming certain eras based on what they’re currently going through. That brings us to the lingering question that’s kept us up: which Taylor Swift era matches the vibe of every U.S. state?

We wondered ’til we were wide awake — so instead of counting days and counting miles, we turned to Google Trends. We drew maps (we’ll save your bedroom ceilings) to find out the most popular era in every state. Baby, let the games begin!

…Ready for It? The Most Popular Taylor Swift Era Every State

U.S. map showing the most popular Taylor Swift era in every state

We must warn you, crunching the numbers was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer — because you can’t go wrong with Taylor Swift!

But when it comes down to it, Speak Now fans will be enchanted to hear that 14 U.S. states have claimed her third studio album as their go-to. While sparks have been flying for the album this summer thanks to her recent release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), this data considers interest dating back to 2006, proving this album really is timeless.

North Dakota is notably loyal to her self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift. They’ve heard every album, listened to the radio, but nothing beats old-school country Taylor.

When it comes to Red popularity, it was rare, but Delaware was there. In the name of being honest, we think it’s casually cruel that just one state claims the award-winning album, but it’s undeniable that everything has changed since 2012.

evermore might be Taylor’s most forgotten album, but Utah disagrees. For the other 49 states, evermore stays begging for footnotes in the story of their lives. Champagne problems!

folklore, on the other hand, reigns supreme in 13 U.S. states. The popularity of the first pandemic album has lingered like a tattoo kiss in states from California all the way to Maine

Surprisingly, Taylor’s home state (Tennessee) is more interested in 1989 than the albums she released while living in the state. We can’t blame them — it’s a new soundtrack, we could dance to this beat too!

Following 1989, Swift iconically went dark on social media, deleting all prior content to lead up to the release of reputation. It hit six states, including Alabama, Indiana, and South Carolina like a shotgun shot in the heart, each boasting reputation as their favorite.

Midnights is the anti-hero of the list, winning out zero states. This is the album that made Swift the first artist in history to claim all 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. I just may like some explanations!

Here’s What Every State Is Listening To…

Let’s keep cruising, can’t stop, won’t stop moving! Next, we wanted to know the most popular Taylor Swift single in every U.S. state.

We weren’t surprised to see that New York can’t get enough of “Coney Island”. New Yorkers can probably relate to the fast times, the bright lights, and the merry-go — making this ode to their home state a favorite.

Connecticut is dancing in a storm in their best dresses, with “Fearless” as their favorite single. If you ask Connecticut, it doesn’t get better than this. “Fearless” is both the most popular single and album in the Nutmeg State.

“Me! was the first single Swift released after moving to Republic Records, and while it isn’t a fan-favorite, 3 states — New Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi — love it. Feelings aside, I promise that you’ll never find another like “Me!”

Taylor’s collaboration with Zayn Malik for the Fifty Shades Darker film soundtrack, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” is the top song in 9 U.S. states. Fans have been looking sad in all the nicest places, including Arizona, Nevada, Louisiana, and Texas

But D.C., Oklahoma, and Kentucky say “Shake it Off,” because the players are gonna play and the fakers are gonna fake, but the 2014 single was the song that launched Taylor’s pop career, and it deserves some attention!

Way too many lyric/song references. Makes the article borderline unreadable.
