Every U.S. State’s Favorite Gemstone

Are you searching for a one-of-a-kind gemstone to gift your sweetheart? You’re in the right place.

Shane Co. has the inside scoop on the most popular gemstone in every state, and some of the results may surprise you. Whether you’re a fan of the classic diamond or an emerald enthusiast, you’ll enjoy discovering the unique gemstone preferences of each state.

From the stunning glaciers of Alaska to the sunny beaches of Florida, join us on a colorful tour of America’s gemstone landscape.

Who knows? You may even get some newfound inspiration for the perfect gift for your special someone.

The Most Popular Gemstone in Every U.S. State

Emerald is the frontrunner as the most popular gemstone in 14 states, which is unsurprising given its rich green hue and association with wealth and royalty.

Diamond, the classic symbol of love and commitment, is a close second, with 13 states choosing it as their favorite gemstone, and who can blame them?

Diamonds are not only stunningly beautiful, but they’re also the hardest substance on Earth, a testament to their strength and durability. Diamond engagement rings endure as a symbol of eternal love and devotion, and their brilliance and sparkle are unmatched.

Ruby, known for its fiery red color and association with passion and courage, is tied with aquamarine for third in popularity. Onyx and amethyst are tied for fourth, with turquoise coming in fifth place.

Interestingly, several gemstones are only sought after in one state each. For instance, tanzanite, a relatively new gemstone discovered in Tanzania in the 1960s, is the most popular in Alaska.

Peridot, a lush yellow-green gemstone that forms deep within the Earth’s mantle, is the top choice in Oregon. Meanwhile, the most popular stone in Washington State, iolite, features a dreamy blue-violet hue that reflects the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s lakes, rivers, and mountains.

Lapis lazuli, a blue stone known for its one-of-a-kind beauty and healing properties for thousands of years, is the most popular in the District of Columbia.

Other gemstones with a loyal following in a single state include sapphire in Montana, pearl in Hawaii, garnet in Maine, and citrine in Arizona.

Each of these sparkly stones has unique qualities and appeal, making them the perfect choice for those seeking something different or meaningful for their special someone.

Our research has given us a glimpse into the most popular gemstone in every state, showcasing the variety and beauty of America’s gemstone landscape.
