A Look at Millennial Jewelry Trends

Millennials, or anyone born between 1981 and 1996, love jewelry. In fact, they make up the biggest percentage of jewelry buyers in the United States. Millennials value mental health, peace, community, and subtle challenges to the status quo. It’s no surprise that their jewelry preferences reflect their values: they love simple yet unique jewelry that holds a personal meaning and brings them joy.

We’re here for you, millennials, and we have the jewelry you want to make a statement. Read on to learn more about millennial jewelry trends!

Gold Chains

Celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid inspired a love among millennials for simple gold chains. It makes sense, considering millennials love minimalism (more about that later) and typically go for a classy, put-together style. Plus, millennials care less about traditional gender norms than previous generations, and both men and women enjoy wearing chains.

Chains are a great way to express yourself, whether you want to wear a single dainty chain or layer a few together. They also go great with neutral-colored outfits, another millennial fashion staple. Shop chains at Shane Co. to get the look.

Minimalism

One of the biggest trends that millennials continuously hold dear is minimalism. Unlike their younger Gen Z counterparts who are spearheading the “cluttercore” movement, millennials are still in their decluttering era. This is thanks in part to Marie Kondo, the author and organizing consultant whose popularity in the 2010s took hold and encouraged everyone to get rid of anything that does not “spark joy.”

To keep it low-key like a millennial, we recommend unpretentious hoop earrings and stackable rings. Add a bit of elegance to your outfit without complicating it. Mixing and matching metals is also cool with millennials, who love showing off their personality in small ways.

Drop Earrings

Although millennials love minimalism, that doesn’t mean they don’t like a bit of flair every so often. After all, these are the folks who were once rocking statement necklaces and chandelier earrings. Now, to add a touch of personality, millennials are wearing drop earrings, also known as dangle earrings.

We’re also seeing pearls everywhere for this demographic, and icons like Kate Middleton are known to wear pearl drop earrings. We suggest combining these two trends and checking out pearl drop earrings like these to perfectly embody millennial style.

Colorful Gemstones

Millennials may not be as expressive as Gen Z when it comes to maximalism and colorful fashion, but they still enjoy showing off their individuality with a pop of color every once in a while. When it comes to jewelry, they love colorful gemstones, both in engagement rings and everyday pieces.

For inspiration, we turn to the queen of the millennials, Blake Lively — this generation loves her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, so it’s no surprise that her pink diamond engagement ring is so popular. Plus, millennials love pink. Shop all colorful gemstone jewelry at Shane Co. to find the color that most speaks to you.

Whether you’re a millennial or just want to mimic one of the most stylish generations, we have the jewelry you need to fit in with all the trending styles.
