The Star of India is the largest and most famous star sapphire in the world, weighing 563.35 carats. Financer J.P. Morgan presented the sapphire to the American Museum of Natural History in 1900.
The Rockefeller Sapphire is 62.02 carats. It was purchased in 1934 from an Indian maharajah whose period of rule lasted from 1911 to 1948, and it acquired its name from John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
