If Disney Princess movies have taught us anything, it’s that women can fight just as hard as men, mirrors can be deceiving, and it’s possible to awaken your true love with just a kiss (cough cough Snow White). From the iconic soundtracks featured in films like Frozen and The Little Mermaid, to Jasmine taking life into her own hands by sneaking outside the palace walls, Disney movies are laced with nostalgia and a taste of romance. Plus, these films wouldn’t be complete without their princes too!
With cuffing season fast approaching (and no better movie night than a Disney Princess-themed one), the team at Shane Co. wanted to revisit some of your top childhood classics. So without further ado, let’s get down to business and release the names of each state’s favorite Disney Princess and Prince!
The competition among Disney Princess characters was tough, but certain ones stood out from the rest of the pack!
While Ariel is known for living under the sea, she had luck on land, capturing the attention of 26 states, including places like California, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Texas, among others. While Ariel transforms into a human in the film, some states are still obsessed with her tail, and The California Mermaid Convention is the perfect place to let your tail out. Who knows? You may even run into your Prince Charming.
Pocahontas, a free-spirited princess from Disney, was most beloved by Oregon and Kansas. Her story isn’t all fiction either, as Pocahontas was a Native American woman that became a vital link between the Powhatan tribe and the colonists, including John Smith. Oregon is home to a high Native American population, which may explain the interest in this state.
Tiana from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog was the most popular Disney Princess according to Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The official Disney Princess grew up in the lively town of New Orleans, perhaps explaining the draw in Louisiana and other Southern states. Just don’t go kissing any frogs.
Mulan, a princess from Disney that might be better described as a warrior, was a favorite in Arkansas, Montana, and North Dakota. Raya shined in Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, and Washington.
Shifting gears to the princesses’ counterparts, Tangled’s Flynn Rider won over Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, and Utah. While Flynn has his eyes on Rapunzel, his trusty steed, Maximus, still manages to capture his heart. Kentucky is home to a high number of horses, which could explain the Bluegrass State’s interest in the unlikely duo.
Prince Adam, a.k.a. the Beast, was a fan favorite in 12 states, including places like California, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The arrogant Prince Adam was turned into a beast due to an evil enchantress’s spell, which will only be broken if he falls in love with someone else and she loves him back. Lucky for the Beast, some girls dig facial hair. One study found that the most facial hair-friendly cities were in states like California, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas — perhaps explaining why they embraced the Beast.
Prince Eric reigned supreme in Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. The original Little Mermaid story takes place in the Kingdom of Atlantica, an underwater city supposedly located in Denmark. Interestingly, Nebraska is home to a high population of Danish people, which could be one reason for the state’s interest in Prince Eric.
Li Shang received top scores from Alaska, D.C., Maine, Nevada, New Mexico, and South Dakota, while Prince Ferdinand had a high search interest in North Carolina and Ohio.

On the Princes map, there are only 10 princes, but Hawaii chose #11. Who is pince #11?

How come Merida is not among the princesses? She is a Disney Princess too, even though she from Pixar Studio. It's weird to not include her like that.
So no surprise that ARIEL is the most loved princess of almost every coastal state or state with large lakes in it. Also no surprise that Tiana is the favorite down south as her story has a southern vibe and is based in New Orleans. The reason I think Raya shines in the states that she does is because in the movie you have a ton of cave searching going on when she finds sisu and well there are alot of caves in those states kids can dream... and also some of those states have that same red sand color. Of course as an island state Moana would have Hawaii's heart immediately. I am however surprised that Virginia did not embrace their resident princess of Pocahontas as the true story took place there choosing instead Ariel. Also that Cinderella, Aurora and Rapunzel only got one state each shows the blond, blue eyed princess theme may be going out of style. The fact that almost none of the states seemed to choose their princesses counterpart in the search as there favorite is also very funny.
That would be interesting if the princess results weren't skewed due to the upcoming Little Mermaid movie.
