Why Choose Jewelry as a Career Path?
The position of jeweler is a time-honored trade that has been around since ancient times. Back in the day, stones were set, metal was manipulated, and long-forgotten languages were carefully etched into rings that would become artifacts. There aren’t many professions that can boast such a rich history while continuing to thrive today.
Like many careers, the path to becoming a jeweler doesn’t have to be a straightforward one. Many jewelers start out working in the arts or as a craftsperson and realize that their passion lies in creating something beautiful. Haley, a jeweler at Shane Co., was working in the music industry when she decided to take her love of making things and go to jewelry school.
“I’ve always been pretty crafty. During the pandemic, I was doing a lot of gig work and working in music. I needed a change and realized I could choose to do anything. I’ve always loved jewelry and I’ve always made things, but I never really thought of it as a career path. Here I am now. It’s awesome.”
