What to Wear: Wedding Dress Necklines

Are you getting married soon? Congratulations! Now comes the hard part: Finding your perfect dress, and then the perfect accessories! If you’re not quite sure what will look best with your chosen style, here are our suggestions for each kind of wedding dress neckline. Above all, though, make sure to choose jewelry that you feel beautiful and comfortable in!

If your neckline is sweetheart: For this neckline, try a necklace that mimics the center dip and higher sides of this style.

If your neckline is scoop or straight across: These necklines call for shorter, and in the case of scoop necks, bulkier necklaces.

If your neckline is square: Square necklines do best with necklaces that also have geometric shapes. Try pendants or bar necklaces that have similar strong lines!

If your neckline is v-neck: Choose a pendant necklace, and try it on to make sure it naturally falls into a v shape that mirrors your neckline.

If your neckline is boat neck: Here is your chance to don a long, dramatic piece! Pick a necklace that is at least 30 inches long, if not longer, for the ultimate boat-neck dress accessory.

If your neckline is halter, illusion, jewel, cowl, high neck or asymmetric: In all of these cases, we would suggest eschewing a necklace for a pair of truly fantastic statement earrings. Make them your accessory focus by opting for major sparkle, larger size or even gorgeous colors.
