You put a lot of time and thought into your proposal, so we understand the need for a breather shortly after she says \u201cyes.\u201d As much as we\u2019d love to tell you that it\u2019s time to relax and conserve your energy, you\u2019re not off the hook just yet. There are some common things most newly engaged couples go through and, while most are exciting, some of them can certainly be overwhelming. Because of that, we wanted to share a list of things to be prepared for so you know what\u2019s up next for you and your partner for life!<\/p>\n

1. You\u2019ll get asked for the proposal story over and over. And over.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

That\u2019s why we started HowHeAsked.com<\/a> in the first place! Feel free to send us your story<\/a> so you can share it with all of your friends and family.<\/p>\n

2. People will immediately ask you when the wedding date is.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s shocking how quickly the wedding detail questions come. While I know it may not be a conversation you want to jump into one day after the proposal, it might be worth it to go over a few basics (like timeframe and location) so you\u2019re on a unified front to answer all of your friends and family.<\/p>\n

3. You\u2019ll start to plan sooner than you think.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A lot of couples say \u201cwe\u2019re in no rush\u201d or decide to take planning slow. While we absolutely understand that sentiment, per tip number two, plans get talked about sooner than you think. You\u2019ll start to realize that seasons or other big events dictate timeframe and weather affects the location.<\/p>\n

4. Venues and vendors book up quickly.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another reason planning should happen fairly early is there is a lot of competition for venues and vendors, like photographers, florists and videographers. In some cases, a popular venue could be booked 18-24 months out, so it pays to explore your options early!<\/p>\n

5. People will want to get you gifts, so register fast.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This last one doesn\u2019t sound too bad, does it? The one thing we\u2019ll warn you about is it\u2019s much better to get a gift you actually want than one you\u2019ll politely thank your great aunt for but will never, ever use. That\u2019s the purpose of a registry, and while most people think it\u2019s used for the actual wedding only, it\u2019s actually widely used for engagement gifts and showers.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll leave you with one last bit of advice: Wedding planning can be a lot of things\u2014fun, stressful, creative, amazing! It\u2019s not every day that you get to plan an incredibly special day dedicated to you and your lifelong partner, so always remind yourself that it is worth every
