Rose Gold

Rose gold is pink.
Sapphires are blue.

Upon entering a jewelry store, most jewelry lovers are not surprised to find their favorite pieces designed in white or yellow settings. These settings can be white gold, silver, stainless steel, palladium, platinum, yellow gold, silver with yellow gold plating, and more. However, over the last two to three years a new kid has walked onto the block and stolen women’s hearts everywhere. Who is this new kid, you ask? None other than…rose gold!

Actually, rose gold has been around for hundreds of years, but recently rose gold designs have been causing quite a stir in the jewelry industry. Unlike white gold and yellow gold rings, which are mixed with two or three other metals, rose gold is only mixed with copper, which gives it a beautiful coppery tone. Copper has long been considered a metal of both durability and beauty, and its prominence in rose gold designs certainly plays a part in rose gold’s appeal.

Unlike in the past, engagement rings are no longer only white or yellow; today’s bride-to-be is turning to rose gold to boldly showcase her fashion sense. Rose gold also pairs beautifully with white metals to form unique two-tone rings.

Rose gold looks amazing with diamonds, but that’s not all; in fact, one of the most beautiful aspects of rose gold is how it looks with colored gems! Blue and pink sapphires are the current favorites, but you are only limited by your creativity. For example, black sapphires look stunning in rose gold settings. You could also try a peach sapphire – a lady who works at our store recently had one set in a fashion ring, and you wouldn’t believe the number of compliments she receives!

Not only have women fallen in love with rose gold, but men are also showcasing rose gold designs to express their individuality and sense of style. Many men love the subtlety of rose gold and how the uniqueness sets them apart from all of their friends. It also gives them more style options – after all, men’s ring choices are certainly limited compared to the vast array of dazzling choices for women!

Caring for a rose gold piece is very similar to caring for a yellow or white gold piece of jewelry. One easy way to maintain the beauty and sparkle of your rose gold jewelry is a simple solution of water and Windex (try six parts water to one part Windex). Let your jewelry soak overnight while you sleep, and in the morning you can use a soft toothbrush to lightly scrub the piece to loosen any remaining dirt. If your piece of jewelry has a pearl in the setting, simply use a polishing cloth instead of soaking the piece in the water/Windex solution (otherwise you can damage the beauty of the pearl).

Rose gold is an excellent choice for the fashion-forward woman who wants her jewelry to stand out from the crowd. From bangles to bands and everything in between, rose gold is sure to get an “Ooh” and “Aaahh” from your friends and family – and maybe a couple strangers as well!
