  Setting a Date

  • Before your date is set in stone, think through all the pros and cons of your special day, including the time of year, day of week, budget issues and more.
  • Allow for planning time! A small, informal celebration can be pulled together in a fairly short period of time, but a major event could take a full year - or more - to arrange.
  • Different seasons can bring different qualities to your wedding. Winter celebrations tend to be ornate. Summer weddings lend themselves to free-spirited fun. Spring can add freshness and floral diversity to the event whereas fall is often connected with deep, rich colors.
  • Climate may influence your wedding month, especially if you're planning an outdoor ceremony or reception.
  • The months of June through September are the most popular times to marry, so prices are inevitably higher. You may find that your budget will go farther at other times of the year.
  • Hosting your wedding on any day of the week besides Saturday will help you save money. You'll also have greater freedom selecting your date in popular wedding months. After all, there are only so many Saturdays in June!
  • Sunday is a good alternative day, especially if most guests live in your area. You may have better luck securing your ceremony and reception sites, and many wedding vendors offer discounts just for booking a Sunday wedding. Sunday is an especially smart choice if your planning time is less than four months.
  • The time of your wedding should be chosen to suit your style. Informal weddings are usually held during the day, while more formal weddings take place in the evening.
  • Daytime affairs are easier on your wedding budget. An evening wedding can cost twice as much as daytime nuptials.
  • Consider your guest mix and their availability. If your friends are big-time football fans, for instance, avoid holding your wedding during the Super Bowl or the popular college game. The weekend of April 15, or Tax Day, is another one to stay away from, especially if tax attorneys or accountants are in your wedding party or guest mix!
  • Avoid work-related crunch times for yourself. You'll either be stressed out or you might not be able to take off for your honeymoon.
  • Consider any religious restrictions that would rule out marriage ceremonies during certain times of the year.
  • Ask your select "wouldn't-get-married-without-them" guests about their preferences.

I purchased two wedding rings through your site and was amazed at the dedication, knowledge and friendliness. I will never go anywhere else for our jewelry needs.
